Built from the field, not from a desk
Airrays was created through years of real-world experience in the bush.
The foundation
Airrays grew out of decades of field work – forestry, logging, wildfire – and the belief that aerial data should serve the people on the ground.
I started working at 13, helping on small jobs with my father's silviculture company. Over time, I worked my way up to crew foreman, gaining firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced in forestry, remote terrain, and field operations.
After that, I spent more than 15 years in logging and heavy equipment, with over 30,000 hours in machines. That deep familiarity with controls made the transition to flying drones almost second nature. I've always had a love for technology, and I was often the one people came to when something needed troubleshooting. Whether it was hardware, software, or machines in the field, I enjoyed figuring it out.
From firefighting to flight
In 2018, while working in wildfire operations, I saw how stretched crews had become. Manpower was tight. Conditions were unpredictable. And critical decisions needed to be made fast. I recognized how drone technology could make a real impact by providing thermal detection, mapping, aerial views, and situational awareness when it mattered most.
That moment changed everything for me. I saw a clear need and knew I could help meet it.
Right after that season, I committed fully to drone operations. I earned my Advanced Drone Pilot Certificate as soon as it became available in 2019, and I've been building Airrays Drone Services ever since. I jumped in with both feet and haven't looked back.
Ground-based experience, air-based insight
Because of my background, I understand how important it is that drone work fits real-world needs, not just nice visuals. My goal is always to deliver useful, reliable data that helps crews, supervisors, and planners make informed decisions.
If you're looking for someone who understands both the ground and the air, that's where I fit.
